We humans are made of Thanatos and Eros instinct , that even in the time of pandemic what is soothing us is that the culprit is being punished , everywhere the news is showing how people who are being blamed for this virus are being held guilty and there are actions being taken against them.
It’s like Thanatos instinct is something that drives us , Eros makes us happy but happiness doesn’t feed us , it’s the anger and hateret that feeds us. Somewhere I feel Thanatos instinct works on filling up the void that we all have , it’s like that void sort of starts showing up for humans in the absence of Eros instinct and Thanatos is something that fills it up and makes the void not visible anymore.
The monks who give up anger and hateret may be somewhere have gained access to the Eros in them and that’s why they can look at their voids and know how it’s was just a fiction of their mind. May be that’s what self love is all about .
